Want to know who’s one bad-ass Momma Goddess? Parvati. There’s more to this gentle Hindu Goddess than meets the eye.
Parvati is one aspect of the primordial Mother-Goddess, Shakti. Being the Goddess of Fertility, Love, Devotion, and Divine Power, she is often depicted as the ideal wife and mother.
However, Parvati is also a mover & shaker – she’s incredibly goal-oriented and goes after what she wants, obstacles be damned!
In fact, she happens to be the mother of Ganesha, the Hindu God known as the “Remover of Obstacles”. One day, while home alone, Parvati decided she wanted to bathe. She created a son out of clay and breathed life into his body. The Goddess instructed him to stand at the door and prevent anyone from entering.
The Goddess’ consort, Shiva, returned home to find the entrance blocked by the boy. Furious that he wouldn’t let Shiva enter, the God cut off the boy’s head!
When Parvati had seen what Shiva had done, she was pissed. She demanded that Shiva fix her son – ASAP. The God replaced the boy’s original head with that of an Elephant’s – thus Lord Ganesha was born (all pretty cool except for the beheading part!!).
To connect to Parvati and her powerful manifestation energy, try meditating while positioning your hands in the Abhaya mudra (representing fearlessness) and Varada mudra (representing generosity) – she is often depicted with these mudras.
To further connect, you can also diffuse a blend of Lemongrass and Peppermint essential oils during your meditation.
