I know everyone talks about “Spring Cleaning” but sometimes you need a good sweep in the winter! 😀

Now, traditionally, Sacred Space is any space or area dedicated to a spiritual practice. This can be meditation, ritual work (if you’re a Witch or magickal practitioner), holistic or energy work (i.e., crystal healing, Reiki, etc.). That being said, a quiet nook in your living room that you use to read, drink a cup of tea and unwind is also Sacred Space! Any space that is a meaningful area to you in which you spend time in to recharge your batteries is just as sacred as a formal “ritual room”.

Since this space is sacred, it should be cleansed energetically often. That doesn’t mean that you have to clean it daily, but before and/or after use – or even once a week – is a great place to start.

Here are my favorite ways to energetically clean my Crystal Healing Room (make sure the room is physically cleaned FIRST before proceeding!):

  • Smudging – Now this one can be pretty pungent (especially if you’re smudging with sage!), so be sure to open at least one window before you start. You’ll need a ceramic tray, abalone shell, or other large fire-proof dish. Light the sage or herb bundle (I prefer using Palo Santo wood sticks) and let it burn down for a second or two before blowing out so that it stays smoking. Set your bundle or stick in the dish and, using your hand or a large feather, begin sweeping over the smoke so that it disburses throughout the room. I go from corner to corner to make sure I don’t miss a spot and then let the room clear out for 10-15 minutes before using again. You can find sage bundles and smudge sticks online or at a local metaphysical store.
  • Singing Bowls – I love this one! You can use a crystal or Tibetan signing bowl to energetically cleanse a space. You take your bowl and “sing” it around the room, going from corner to corner as you would when smudging. This one is a great choice if you’ve booked several clients in one day and need to cleanse the space quickly between each session. There’s little-to-no prep work (you just need the bowl!) and no cleanup! I purchased my singing bowl (pictured above) at my local Gem Faire, but you can easily find a great one on Amazon.com.
  • Gem & EO Elixirs – This one does require some prep work, but has zero cleanup and a my kids love it. 🙂 You can choose an oil blend, such as doTERRA’s Serenity or Purify, or create your own blend using one or two essential oils like Frankincense, Lavender, Peppermint, Rosemary, and/or Lemon. Add a few drops of the blend to a spray bottle with distilled or spring water. To add extra “oomph,” charge the spray bottle with one or two negativity clearing crystals, like Black Tourmaline, Smokey Quartz or Apache Tear. To charge, let the crystal sit next to the spray bottle (be sure to choose an amber or blue glass bottle) for about 15-30 minutes. This elixir will keep about 1-3 days. Also, the oil won’t be completely absorbed into the water, so be sure to shake before each use!
